Terms and Conditions for Spendy
Welcome to Spendy! These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Spendy mobile application ("Application"), developed by NidhinV ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Spendy, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Application.
CRITICAL OFFLINE-FIRST NOTICE
Spendy is an offline-first tool. All database assets, configurations, and transaction records are stored directly in your device's local memory. If you delete the Application, format your device, or clear the storage cache without performing an encrypted external backup, your data will be permanently and irreversibly lost.
1. License Grant
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Application on a single mobile device owned or controlled by you, strictly in accordance with these Terms.
2. Use of On-Device Automation Features
Spendy includes features designed to simplify your financial tracking, including automatic SMS parsing, Voice recording, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) receipt scanning.
SMS Interception
Driven by regular expressions and local AI algorithms. Intercepts transaction alerts completely offline.
OCR Receipt Scanning
Performs optical character recognition on receipt images to extract transaction parameters locally.
Voice Log Recognition
Processes recorded voice clips into text to structure transaction logs completely on-device.
- Due to structural variations in bank notifications, cellular network delivery, or local AI inference variables, we do not warrant or guarantee that transaction alerts will be parsed with 100% accuracy.
- You agree that it is your responsibility to manually inspect and verify all transactions, merchant categories, wallet assignments, and amounts logged by the automated systems. You should not rely on automated entries as a perfect representation of your accounts.
3. Disclaimer of Professional Advice
Spendy is intended solely for personal expenditure tracking and budgeting purposes. The Application and its local AI helper (Spendy AI) do not provide tax, legal, investment, or professional financial advice. All analysis, budget limits, or suggestions are advisory only.
4. Responsibility for Security and Backups
- Local Security: The database is secured locally using AES-256 encryption. You are responsible for safeguarding your device, setting up an App Lock PIN/Biometrics, and preventing unauthorized access to your phone.
- Google Drive Integration: If you use the backup functionality, your Google account is governed by Google’s own terms of service. You are responsible for remembering your custom encryption keys used to encrypt the backup archives. If you lose your encryption keys, the Developer cannot decrypt your backup files.
Local AES-256 Backup & Key Validator
ReadyTo protect your privacy, backup archives are encrypted locally before uploading. Test how a custom key locks your database. If you lose this key, the database remains permanently unreadable.
